Heartstrings Card Workshop

When I first saw the Heartstrings Card Workshop, I thought the cards were really pretty (and the stamp set is beautiful), but I didn't think my customers would get much use out of the Valentine-themed cards.  So, I dragged out a few other sentiment stamp sets and made them cards that I know ANYONE could use all year round!

Close to My Heart's Workshop on the Go Cardmaking Kits are ALWAYS a super value because they contain all the paper, card bases and envelopes to make 15 cards, plus two FULL-size accessories (the Stuck On You Puffies and the Pixie Extra Thick Twine) and an exclusive D-size stamp set--all for only $24.95.  You can order the kit (G1090) on my website at http://christina.ctmh.com.

If you're local, sign up for my Heartstrings Card Workshop on Thursday, Feb. 19th, 6 p.m.  Cost is $29 (the kit plus shipping and tax).  I'll have lots of sentiment stamp set so you can make cards that will be most practical for you!

See how easy it easy to substitute other sentiment stamps for any occasion??

NOTE:  The stamp pads used in this kit (not included) are Slate, Lagoon and Pixie.

Easy, Affordable Valentine Projects!

I host a Valentine workshop every year, and it's one of my favorite classes because we get to make easy  projects that revolve around candy!!!   Here are a few of the projects we'll be learning this year:

I've seen these little Nugget mailboxes on the internet, but I finally took the time to make one myself--why did I wait so long??  This patterned paper from the Heartstrings paper pack was perfect for it, and I think the little embellishments (Clear Sparkle and one of the hearts from the Stuck On You Puffies) add just the right touch!

I'm a big fan of our Cut Above Treat Bag Kits--we've got four different designs, and this is the new Valentine kit.  The round stickers fit perfectly on Rolo candy, and believe me when I tell you that this takes only MINUTES to put together!!  I amped mine up a bit by adding Gold Shimmer Trim and Pixie Twine.  The "Happy Valentine's Day" is one of our little M-sized stamps for only $2.95.  I mounted it on a stamped circle from one of the Artiste stamp sets.

When we get a product like the Cut Above Valentine Treat Bags, you KNOW we'll have to turn it into something completely different.  This time,  I trimmed a little off of the top of the treat bag and glued it together so it's a flat card that doesn't open.  I inserted the sucker into the treat box window.  These monster stamps (B1470 Love Ya Silly for $9.95) are so adorable. . .makes me wish my kids were still in elementary school. . .okay, I'm kidding--I never want to do the elementary years again!  Anyway, I had to make mine a "she monster" with a bow from the Puffies!!  You might notice that I have green Shimmer Trim running across the top of the card.  Green is one of the few Shimmer Trim colors we DON'T carry, but we DO carry white, and you can color our White Shimmer Trim ANY color with the Shin Han Markers.  Such a cool tip!!

A friend of mine posted this idea on Facebook, but they had used toilet paper roll tubes to make the owls.  I'm all for frugal recycling, but I decided I could do the same thing with our My Creations Clear Treat Tubes (Z1823, $5.95).  I just created a tube of paper (this pattern came from the Brushed Paper Pack) that sticks up above the clear treat tube.  You just fold the ends of the tube to create the owl ears--another SUPER EASY project.  Again, I used the Puffies to add some fun sparkle, and I made the owl wings out of Pink Glitter Paper.  If you whip these out for the kids in your child's class, give yourself a GOLD STAR!!!

We have SO MANY fantastic products for Valentine Projects, and you can order all of them on my website at http://christina.ctmh.com.  Here are a few of my faves:

January Stamp of the Month--This Moment

Our January Stamp of the Month is such a fun set full of vivid images that you can use for Valentine's Day OR any time of the year.  It works wonderfully on both cards and layout pages.  You can get the Stamp of the Month for only $5 with a $50 purchase this month, or order it for the retail price of $17.95.  To order, visit my Online Business Address at http://christina.ctmh.com

Here's a QUICK card that I made with the January Stamp of the Month and the Hopscotch paper pack.  I stamped "Hello" in Smoothie ink and then added stickers--it doesn't get much easier than that!

January Club Layout

For January club, we'll be making this fun layout with the Confetti Wishes paper pack.  For some reason, my photography skills have been less than stellar the last month or two (could have something to do with the winter lighting), but trust me when I say that it's cuter in real life. . .the close-ups below show the details and colors much better.   I used Crystal Blue for the background paper, then added Pacifica, Thistle and Canary cardstock, along with patterned papers from the Confetti Wishes paper pack.

I decided to skip the stickers and stamping this month and have some fun with the Cricut.  I used the Artbooking cartridge to cut the "make a WISH" and cupcake and the Artiste cartridge to make the fun circle shapes (is there a name for that shape???).

If you'd like to join us for club, we meet January 19th, 10 a.m. or 6:30 p.m.  Cost for the workshop is a $20 minimum order.
